physical therapy FAQs

    • No, in Colorado, you can receive physical therapy services without a referral or prescription, thanks to Direct Access. This allows you to see a physical therapist directly, without needing to go through a doctor first!

    • In some states, Direct Access laws allow you to see a PT without a referral for a limited time (typically 20 to 60 days). So while you can self-refer for initial care, I may need to obtain a referral if your treatment extends beyond that period.

We will navigate this process together, based on your state’s laws.

    • To ensure the highest quality of care, Z+Z operates as a cash-based physical therapy service, also known as self-pay. I do not accept insurance at this time.

I offer a variety of package options for your convenience. If financial hardship is a concern, please feel free to discuss it with me—I’m happy to work with you.

  • Ever heard the saying, 'You get what you pay for'?

While the lower cost of insurance-based physical therapy may seem appealing, cash-based services offer a more personalized, whole-body approach that often leads to better outcomes in fewer sessions – giving you more value for your money.

During your session, I am with you every step of the way. There's no handoff to aides or time spent on insurance paperwork, ensuring that all your time is spent focusing on your recovery.

Plus, cash-based services often offer flexibility and more attention to complex, chronic conditions.

When treated under insurance, PTs are typically limited to working on specific body parts (just one or two). This can limit holistic care because the parts of the body are interconnected. Autoimmune diseases, for example, affect the whole body, not just one body part.

    • At the moment, I only provide physical therapy services to patients residing in Colorado. However, I am licensed in 15+ other states and plan to expand quickly. If you live outside Colorado and are interested in PT services, please reach out –I will likely be able to provide care depending on your location and state practice laws.

    • I've been providing telehealth PT services for many years and have honed the skills needed to deliver a smooth, high-quality experience.

    • We can use your home environment to our advantage, assessing your home exercise program and ensuring relevant movements are performed effectively, just like in the clinic.

    • I enjoy the opportunity to meet your support system, if you wish, and I always love connecting with pets as well!

    • Getting ready, traveling to a clinic, attending a session, and then heading home can be exhausting, especially if you're dealing with pain or a flare-up. Work or childcare schedules can also make things hectic. Telehealth helps conserve your energy (or spoons, if you're familiar with the spoon theory), allowing you to focus on other important aspects of your life.

    • PT evaluation: 60 minutes.

    • PT Follow up: 50 minutes.

    • I focus on all aspects of wellness—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—because you are more than just your diagnosis.

    • Many PT practices aren’t equipped for chronic, complex conditions. When multiple symptoms are involved, recovery can be non-linear, and many therapists may feel impatient. The same exercise doesn’t work for everyone, even with the same condition. You’re an individual, and I’ll treat you as such.

    • I dive deeper into your pain and symptoms, often going further than others, and I like to make the process fun and creative!

  • Finding practitioners who truly 'get it' can be tough. I get it.

    • Through both personal and professional experience, I understand the complexity of chronic pain and disease, especially when combined with mental health or substance use disorders.

    • The high rates of opioid misuse and addiction among chronic pain patients highlight the need to address all underlying factors. I’m passionate about advocating for and leading in the PT and coaching fields, particularly for this population.

  • I love collaborating at Z+Z!

    • One of the most frustrating aspects of healthcare, especially for those with multiple conditions, is the lack of collaboration among professionals. At Z+Z, working together to improve the quality of care is a top priority.

    • I’m passionate about collaborating with professionals from various fields—psychologists, rheumatologists, massage therapists, and more. Whether you already have a support network or need help building one, I’d be honored to be a part of it.

    • *I always stay within my scope of care as a PT and coach and will refer you to other professionals if necessary.

    • Yes. A blend of ‘required’ and ‘optional’ forms will be sent out via email prior to your first PT session. They allow me to gain insight into your intentions and goals for seeking out Z+Z services and can save time during our session to focus on you.

I read the forms thoroughly before your session, so you can trust none of your time is wasted.
